Our first Competition takes place on Sunday the 29th of September at 12pm in the Phoenix Center in Carrickmacross

This is a totally new and innovative event run by the Oriel Zone to raise funds for two extremely worthwhile Charities. The North East Hospice and Irish Motor Neuron Disease Association.

How it works.

The captains (Gerry McCabe and Diarmuid McMahon) have selected 48 players. 24 players under 40 and 24 players over 40. Gerry McCabe (Captain of the Overs) has selected North East Hospice and Diarmuid McMahon (Captain of the Unders) has selected Irish Motor Neuron Disease Association as his Charity. The winning team captain will donate 70% of the money made to his Charity while 30% will go to the losing team. Each player selected will pay €20.

We will begin at 12pm with 6rinks v 6rinks. Then we will have lunch, which a local chippy, Dolans, will come down with the food. We then move onto the next run which will be 8trips v 8trips. The next run will be 12 pairs v 12 pairs (2runs of 6mats) and finally 24 singles v 24 singles (3runs of 8mats). Should be finished by 7pm.

Each match will be 2points for a win, 1 point for a draw and the team with the most points at the end will claim the prize.

We will also hold a big raffle on the day and during the Pairs we will have a game of target bowls to raise even more funds for the worthy causes.

We would like as many spectators there as possible.

At this stage we would also like to thank our sponsors. Hanlon Transport, the Phoenix Center and Dolans take away.
