Oriels Nationals rinks is always well contested and this year was no exception.
Preliminary Round
Fra Dillon playing with Aidan Conroy, Ciaran McIntyre and David McGuiness comfortably beat the rink skipped by Pj Reel from Silverbridge. Diarmuid McMahon along with Sean Conlon Denis Ward and Jimmy McMahon had a extremely tight affair winning 7-2 after 9 ends.
First Round
Carol McMahon (with Rachel Brennan, Geraldine Boyle and Frank Ward) ended up 2 shots victors over Tom Devin from Greenhills. Fra Dillon cruised passed Diarmuid McMahon. Paddy Hanlon along with Gerry McCabe, Stephen McMahon and John Murnaghan had a tough battle against Stephens father John McMahon, eventually winning 8-6. The Trainors, Conor Mackin and Brendan McCabe lost to Conors father Noel Mackin Anthony Reel, Michael McLearnon and Patsy Burns, in the closest game of the night, by sinking the jack in an extra end. The 4 hands had a comfortable victory over Eugene Callan, Sean Conroy brushed aside the inform Gerry Roe. Michael Garveys rink narrowly beat Ronan Hanlon. Finally Paul Duff, along with Andrew Meegan, Colm Minnock and Patsy Duff, ran out easy victors over Conor McEnaney.
Quarter Finals
Fra Dillons run came to an end losing to Anthony Reel by 4. Paddy Hanlon had a more comfortable victory by picking up 2 5s in the first 4 ends. The 4 Hands had a nailbiting contest against Michael Garvey only winning in the last end, Finally Paul Duff eased passed Carol McMahon with an end to spare
